Years ago, “blue Quartz” simply did not exist in the collecting world. It wasn't until more recently that quartz with blue inclusions was finally discovered. Dark blue Quartz began to appear from mines in Brazil and Afghanistan. In late 2019, however, a new production from a quarry in Bahia, Brazil set the gold standard for blue quartz. Well crystallized specimens of quartz with electric blue dumortierite inclusions surfaced, and Ziga Mineral became the first to bring these to market at the 2020 Tucson show.
