Late 2019 came with new surprises from the midwestern United States when a blast at the Sweet Water Mine in Missouri revealed a cavern of colossal black calcite crystals. With flanging points of dark grey calcite, collectors quickly dubbed the find as “Dragon Scale Calcite.” Through our partners in the midwest, we were able to purchase the masterpieces from the find, “The Compass” and “The Iron Throne.” These two titans bring serious mineral collecting to large scale with a sculptural impact unlike any fine mineral or man made sculpture.
